Registering for a library card takes just a few minutes! It’s FREE, and it’s your key to accessing not only the materials found at Yates Community Library, but to most holdings of the 20 public libraries in Orleans, Niagara, and Genesee counties (the Nioga Library System).
Additionally, your Borrower ID # found on the card will give you access to free online services of the system, such as borrowing eBooks, movies, music, magazines, and more.
Anyone age 18 or older with an acceptable form of ID (see below) can obtain a card by completing the registration form at the library’s Circulation desk. If you already have a valid card from another Nioga System library, that is the card you will use. We will ask you for any change of address or phone number.
For those under age 18, a parent or legal guardian must sign the registration form and show acceptable form of ID.
For our seasonal members: we welcome you as a Yates Community Library borrower! Please provide one of the forms of ID below, and your permanent and seasonal address, when registering.
Your first library card is free. Replacement cards cost $1.00.
Please present your card each time you borrow materials. This is for your protection, as there are thousands of borrowers in the Nioga borrower database.
Acceptable forms of identification:
- New York State Drivers License with current street address
- Valid picture ID card with name, current address, and signature
- If you have recently moved and have not had your license changed, a utility bill showing current address will suffice
- Dwelling lease
- Voter registration card with current address
